Students in grades 3-8 taking any of these courses will also take the end of year SAGE test for math.

ALEKS Math Courses

ALEKS (Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Spaces) is a solely web-based (no offline materials), artificially intelligent assessment and learning program available for 3rd-8th grade math courses. ALEKS uses adaptive questioning to quickly and accurately determine exactly what a student does and doesn't know in a course. ALEKS then instructs the student on the topics he/she is most ready to learn. As a student works through a course, ALEKS periodically reassesses to ensure topics learned are also retained. ALEKS courses are very complete in their topic coverage and a high level of mastery in an ALEKS course is equivalent to mastery in an offline course. 3rd-8th grade students enrolled in an ALEKS course will take the end of year SAGE math test.

You are welcome to browse their website and explore their curriculum:  www.aleks.com If you have any questions on if your student would succeed with an online math course, try their free trial where you will be able to:

  • Navigate a brief tutorial to learn how to use ALEKS
  • Experience an individualized ALEKS Assessment
  • View a detailed report of your knowledge and learning path
  • Learn new topics through targeted practice problems

Your ALEKS trial will allow you to explore the ALEKS Student Module for three hours anytime during the next 48 hours.

If you have any additional questions, please direct them to your homeroom teacher.

Description

*RtI (Response to Intervention) courses are designed to help students master needed mathematical concepts in order to be prepared and successful in their AAG (age-appropriate grade) level course. These courses are intended to be completed as quickly as possible in order to advance and be on grade level as quickly as possible. Once a RtI course is completed, the student will advance into their grade appropriate course (ie: a student who completes RtI 6 will advance to MS Course 1).

For all courses, when a student finishes, they can advance to the next course.
